The 6th Monyul Monlam Chenmo is all set to roll from 7th of March at Yum Chen Dolma Lhagang in Lumla. Monlam Chenmo is a massive annual prayer event wherein high monks, scholars, nuns and devotees pray for world peace.
Sensing heavy footfall of devotees from across the Buddhist belt of the state, the organising committee backed by the locals and the Lumla administration has tightened their belts.
While the local MLA Jambey Tashi and his wife Tsering Lhamu, who are the prime sponsors of the pious prayer ceremony, have sponsored a massive congregation hall for the devotees, Lumla ADC RD Thungon conjoined by his team is monitoring the safety and traffic regulation during the weeklong programme.
The ADC has also circulated a restrictive order prohibiting vendors and hawkers to put their shops along the road from Kerosene depot tri-junction to Dolma Lhagang. Further, he has directed the vehicles to enter from Manpat Tri-Junction and exit via the forest gate Tri-Junction for smooth traffic flow. He also informed that premises of Lumla Sports Club building, Circuit House and Tourist Lodge have been earmarked as parking areas and appealed the drivers to park the vehicles in a single lane on the valley side from Kerosene depot tri-junction to circuit house.
